In her installation karyatiden [in the box], Penny Monogiou weaves two strands of content into a tapestry of references and allusions that form the basis of socio-critical and postcolonial debates. In a poetic ensemble of drawing, installation and historical imagery, she creates a minimally designed space whose reduction and emptiness seem like a blank page on which the discussions about the traditional role of women in society and the debate about the theft of cultural goods can be continued or even rewritten.
